Belt Parkway GERRITSEN INLET BRIDGE (C) 2000 M.T.WRIGHT |
The BELT Parkway Gerritsen Inlet Bridge Is Located
Along The Eastbound Belt Parkway, Between Knapp Street And Flatbush Avenue. Park At The Plum Beach Area Parking (Just E Of
Knapp St.), Then Walk East Along The Trail To The Bridge. Good Shoreline Surf Fishing Can Be Found On The Beach Area. This
Is The Inlet To Gerritsen Bay, The Salt Marsh Area. It is Recommended You Not Fish Off The Bridges Walkway. Reason Being It
Gets Very Icey In Winter, And Cars Are Just Inches Away From You, Speeding By. No Food Facilities There, Bring Your Own. No
"Portable Johnny's Located Nearby. FISH THE SHORELINE BELOW THE BRIDGE.
Please do not leave your personal mess along ths shoreline, take trash with you.
The PAERDEGAT BASIN BRIDGE...Which Runs Along The Eastbound Belt Parkway, Between Mill
Basin And The Canarsie Shoreline, Is Another Spot. Few Fish There. When They Do It Is Below On The Shoreline. Parking
Is A Distance and Long Walk From The Canarsie Pier. NO PHOTO!. Looks Like The Other Belt Pkwy. Bridges Anyway!,

Parkway, Between Flatbush Avenue And Rockaway Parkway. Same Info. (Weather, Traffic Info.) Also Applies Here As It Does At
The "GERRITSEN INLET BRIDGE" And "PAERDEGAT BASIN BRIDGE" (Posted Above This Listing). Nearest Parking Is
At The CANARSIE PIER, Then Hike The Trail Westbound To The Bridge. A Long Hike, I May Add. And Further Note, Many Anglers
Who Come To Fish These Two Bridge Areas "Come By Bicycle." No Food Facilities Here, Bring Your Own. No "Portable Johnny's"

GIL HODGES - MARINE PKWY. MEMORIAL BRIDGE (C) 2000 M.T.WRIGHT |
1.) The GIL HODGES MEML./MARINE PKWY. BRIDGE
WALKWAY: "The News Is Not Good To Anglers!"..."THIS VERY
POPULAR FISHING SPOT IS NOW OFF-LIMITS!." 5 YEARS NOW. First The Construction Project, Now "Terror Fears." Folks,
We Live In The Post "9-11" Era, A Time When These So-Called "Terror Alerts
And "Threats" Still Exist. So As A result, The Once Very Popular Year-Round Fishing Spot, Located At The Southern Most
Tip Of Flatbush Avenue, Which Links Brooklyn With Riis Park, Queens, "IS NOW OFF LIMITS!." The MTA/TBTA Prohibits Fishing
From The Bridge Walkway,Period. No Questions Asked. No Fishing From Directly Under The Bridge, Along The Shoreline
On The Brooklyn Side (Floyd Bennett Field To Dead Horse Bay). We Have To Live With This Rule. What More Can I Say About
It. Fish From The Seawall On The Riis Park,Rockaway Side Of The Bridge. That Is What Many Anglers Are Now Doing.
The Bridge Is "The EMERALD GATEWAY" To The Seashore
Communities Of Belle Harbor, Breezy Point, Rockaway Park, Rockaway Point,
And Roxbury. Better Known As "N.Y.'S IRISH RIVIERA"..."COIS FARRAIGE!." Oh, And The Gateway
To Southeast Brooklyn Too. The Bridge is rightly Named In Honor Of Brooklyn's own Baseball Great Gil Hodges (Bklyn. Dodgers,
NY Mets). Great Saltwater/Surf Fishing Can Be Found On The Rockaway side of the Bridge, along the Jamaica Bay Seawall, The
Ocean, and the famous 'Rockaway Jetty.' Be careful where ya fish, for it could be Pivate Cooperative property (Breezy
Point, Roxbury, etc.), West Of The Bridge. No Fishing Permitted at The USCG or National Parks Police Marine Unit Piers opposite
the Bridge on Jamaica Bay. No SurfFishing Along The Riis Park Or Rockaway Beaches During Season. Most Popular Rockaway
Jamaica Bay Spot Is Along The Seawall From The High School to The MTA Bridge into/from Broad Channel, Queens
(approx. Beach 98 Street). A B&T Is Located On The Eastside Of This Bridge by The McDonald's, yes, east of the High
School.
And just to note, The Photo of the Bridge was taken prior to 9/11/2001, long before
the MTA put a ban on photographing and videotape of their precious Bridges and Tunnels.
"And We're Doin The ROCKAWAY WALTZ!".. (From The Song, Rockaway Waltz, By John Egan
And His Tradewinds Showband). Should Be Their Official Theme Song, If Ya Ask Me!...Slainte!
And Yes, Mr. John Baxter (public access Tv) is indeed the "Mayor Of Rockaway" and
its leading spokesman on many important issues that affect Rockaway, and its Coastal waterways.
FYI--Midi Wav Song On This Page Is The Ever Popular Irish Classic 'The Misntrel Boy.'
Say, What Was "Your Favorite Tv Fishing Episode ?"--- 1.) 'I Love Lucy', Or 'The Honeymooner's'
???. Sorry, But The Opening Of 'The Andy Griffith Show' does not count.
Best Film Fishing--- 1.) 'Grumpy Old Men', Or 2.) Joe Pesci and Dan Glover's Film
???.
