There Are NO Freshwater Lakes Or Ponds That You Can Fish In, In Rockaway, Queens.
The Abandoned "Ridgewood Resevoir", Located Adjacent To The Eastbound Jackie Robinson Parkway, On The Bklyn.-Queens
Border, Could Indeed Become Another Freshwater Fishing Spot, But Only If The City Of NY, And NYC DPR Completely Dredge And
Renovate It, And Make It One. We Strongly Hope And Suggest That They Do.
TIME FOR CITY And STATE OFFICIALS TO BRING A NEW "WORLDS FAIR" TO FLUSHING MEADOW
CORONA PARK. ***5/21/09- Now available...A Wonderful perspective

Rd. To Magnolia Blvd. (Sign On A Pole There Points Out Where The Rec. Ctr. Is. Pier Is On The Northend Of Magnolia Blvd..
There Is Also The Eastend Of The Pier at The Marina (Where The Large Water Tank Is) In Point Lookout. Nearest B&T

Pond A Try---There Are Trout In The Round Pond. There Are Locations To Fish In Both Nassau & Suffolk Counties.

* To, And In The PARKS* |
Note: See The Map Below. It How Ever Does Not Show Bowne Park, Nor Oakland Lake, Which Is Just Northwest
Of Alley Pond Park, Opp. The Cross Island Pkwy. ,As Noted In The Text Re. The Park.
BAISLEY POND PARK: At The Cross Roads Of Baisley, Rockaway And Supthin Boulevard's To Be Precise.
The Pond Is 25 Acres. SPECIES OF FISH: LM Bass; Carp; Catfish; Sunfish. TAKE THE "Q6" Or "Q7" BUS TO GET
HERE!.
KISSENA PARK LAKE: 164th. Street & 59th. Avenue. The Recently Completed Renovated Lake Is 8 Acres.
SPECIES OF FISH: LM BASS; BLACK CRAPPIE; CARP; CATFISH; SUNFISH. Anglers Say This Is The 2nd.
Best Queens Spot.
TAKE THE "Q65" BUS TO GET THERE.
***MEADOW LAKE: Flushing-Meadows Corona Park. ***PRESENTLY
CLOSED TO FISHING BY NYSDEC!*** The Lake Is 100 Acres. SPECIES OF FISH: CARP; CATFISH; WHITE PERCH; SUNFISH.
***STICKY!
8/5/05- AVOID FISHING HERE!!!...PREDATOR SNAKEHEAD FISH WERE FOUND IN THE LAKE!!!...STATE OF THE FISH POPULATION IS NOT YET
KNOWN...NYS DEC IS INVESTIGATING!!! -- UPDATE: 10/07- We were advised by "Alex" that FISHING IS STILL NOT PERMITTED DUE TO
SAID SITUATION.
CHECK OUT FLUSHING MEADOW CORONA PARK VIA The LINK BELOW."GREAT INTERACTIVE WEBSITE...THE FLASH INTRO
IS GREAT!!!"
OAKLAND LAKE, At Alley Pond Park: 46 Ave., Springfield To Cloverdale Blvd.'s, In Bayside-Oakland
Gardens, Queens Lake Is 15 Acres. 20 Feet Deep. SPECIES OF FISH: LM BASS; BLACK CRAPPIE; CARP; CATFISH;
SUNFISH. Anglers Say This Is "The Best Fishing Spot In Queens." Alot Of Lillypads Along Shoreline. Nice Quaint,
Quiet Park In A Respectable Neighborhood. Alot Of Local Asian, Caucasian's and Seniors Use The Park To Jog, Sit, Etcetera.
OAKLAND PARK Is A Part Of The Larger ALLEY POND PARK. TAKE THE "N21", "N20","12", "13" BUS WHICH RUNS ALONG NORTHERN
BLVD. (HEADING EASTBOUND) TO PUT YOU IN GENERAL AREA. WALK TO THE PARK FROM THERE. VIA THE LIRR, GET OFF AT THE "BAYSIDE"
STATION, BEST BET IS TO TAKE CAR SERVICE TO THE POND.
***WILLOW LAKE: ***PRESENTLY CLOSED TO FISHING BY NYSDEC!***
JEWEL AVENUE/69 Road Is The North Border; NYCTA Transit Yards At Its Southern End. Lake Is Just South Of
"Flushing Meadows- Corona Park", At Jewel Avenue. Grand Central Parkway On Its Western Border; Van Wyck Expwy. On Its Eastern
Border. Adjacent MEADOW LAKE Flows Into It, And Vice-Versa. There Are Footbridges To The Lake As Follows: Southeast End Of
Flushing-Meadow Park; Peartree And 72 Avenue On The Westside; Ramp Eastside Of The Lake. Lake Is 40 Acres. Very Diffcult
To Cast From, As There Are Bushes And Heavy Large Phragmitey All Around The Perimiter. Large Fence Surrounds Access To Most
Of It. Quite Frankly, I Do Not Personally Know Any Anglers That Have Fished This Lake. And It Was Scheduled For Dredging And
Renovation In The Past. SPECIES OF FISH: CARP; CATFISH; WHITE PERCH; SUNFISH. TAKE
THE "#-7" TRAIN, Or LIRR TO GET HERE. Long, Tiresome Walk Through Flushing Meadow Park To Get There. Also A Long Walk
Eastbound From The Nearest Subway On Queens Blvd..
A FEW NOTES REGARDING: "Bowne Park" In Northern Queens; "Golden
Pond" (At Frank Golden Park) In Bayside; The Preserve Pond , And Golf Course Pond In Forest Park.
In A Few Words, "Fish Elsewhere!." "Bowne Park Lake" Which Is More Like A Pond, And Has Two
Working Guysers In Its Center, Is Scarcely Stocked With Small Fish...No Hawg's...It's More Of A Turtle Habitat, and there
is much freshwater Structure at the bottom, so it was hard to see any fish. "Golden Pond" Has 3 Unknown Working Devices In
It. No Big Game Fish To Speak Of. In The Past It Was Known As A Littered, Polluted Body Of Water. A Hangout For Teens And
Late Night Back-Seat Lovers, On That Dead End Street. Queens Anglers Advise To "Fish Oakland Lake", Not These. This "Golden
Pond" Is Most Certainly Not LIke The One Henry & Jane Fonda, and Kate Hepburn Fished On In The Film "On Golden
Pond." Lastly, Yes, There Is A Preserve "Pond" Located In Forest Park, But There Are No Game Fish In It, Period!.
And There Is No Fish Or Fishing In The Forest Park Golf Course Pond (Visible From The Qns. Bound Jackie Robinson Parkway).
"AVOID ALL 4 LOCATIONS!."
Flushing-Meadows Corona Park Is Home To The USTA U.S. Open Tennis At The National
Tennis Center. It Was The Home Of The 1939, And 1963-1964 Worlds Fair. Just North Of The Park Is Shea Stadium, Home Of
The 1969 World Series "Miracle" NY Mets Baseball.
Personally: A Series Of Playoff's, And The Winning Game, I Attended
And Will Never Forget. In Memory Of My Community Neighbor, Baseball Legend GIL HODGES. Friends And I Had Many Private Moments
With Him At His Residence Doorstep Back Then. I Was Friendly With His Son Gil, Jr. And Daughter Barbara, On The Ocassions
I Met Them. A Great Man, Even Greater Family. GIL HODGES, "The Quiet Man." I Join Others In Urging The National Baseball Hall
Of Fame Membership To Finally Induct GIL HODGES Into The Baseball Hall Of Fame.
