STATEN ISLAND, U.S.A..  Richmond County, N.Y.:

STATEN ISLAND DPR PARKS YOU CAN FISH IN:

Key: "***" "Fish Here!."  One of my brothers lives on the Island and back in the day had fished  these Spots with his 2 boys. He gave me some pointers and tips which I have noted.  And Thanks to you guys that had previously sent in some E-mail tips as well.

***CLOVES LAKE PARK, Which Consists Of The Following Bodies Of Water Below.

A.)*** CLOVE LAKE: Location: Along Clove Road Near Victory Boulevard, Castleton Corners, S.I.. Lake Is 5 Acres. A very Clean park with pristine water. There is a seperate Ice Skating Rink and Zoo.

B.) BROOKS LAKE- RICHMOND POND-MARTLING LAKE:
Location: All Are Within "Clove Lakes Park", Area Of Brookside Avenue & Martling Avenue. My bro said there is good fishing here too. This area is along "Clove Road."
SPECIES OF FISH FOUND IN THE PARK: LM BASS; BLACK CRAPPIE; CATFISH; BLUE GILL. Lake Is 5 Acres.

TAKE THE "S61", "S62", "S66", "S67", "91", "92", "S48", "S98" BUS TO GET THERE. FROM BROOKLYN, TAKE THE "S53" FROM 86 Street & 4th. Avenue, ACROSS THE VZ BRIDGE, LEAVES YOU BY THE PARK. ASK THE DRIVER. By car from Brooklyn take the Staten Island Expwy. to the "Slosson Ave." Exit--Exit onto service road, take right at light and drive to the park. You will see an overpass roadway over the water with some concrete stairways that lead to it below.  If you see the NY State Armory to your left you are going in the right direction.

***SILVER LAKE (The Old Resevoir):
Location: Forest Avenue And Victory Blvd., North Of Clove Lakes Park, Next To The Golf Course.  A Very clean Park with pristine water.  Pretty large lake. GREAT PLACE TO FISH. My brother and nephews swear by it.  Drove by there on April 6, 2008, despite the cold and wind I personally observed quite a few people with rods headed into the park to fish . My brother said the fish are visible in the water, some nice sized ones.
Species Of Fish: LM BASS; BLACK CRAPPIE; CARP; BULLHEAD CATFISH; BLUE GILL; YELLOW PERCH.
The Lake Is 51 Acres.
TAKE THE "S66", "S62/92", "S48","S61", "S91", "S63", "S53."

WILLOWBROOK PARK LAKE:
Eton Place Between Richmond Ave. & Victory Blvd..
Size Of The Lake Unknown To Us.
SPECIES OF FISH: LMB, CARP, CATFISH, SUNNIE'S.

***WOLFES POND PARK: (Fresh and Saltwater Fishing)-
Location: East Of Hyland Boulevard On Cornelia Avenue, Princess Bay, S.I..  Due South Of  "Great Kills Park."
SPECIES OF FISH FOUND: LM BASS; BLACK CRAPPIE; CARP; BULLHEAD CATFISH; WHITE PERCH; BLUE GILL.
Pond Is 15 Acres.
Note: S.I. Anglers Swear By This Pond...Say It Is The Best On S.I.. It Is Further South On Hyland Blvd. Past Great Kills Park. Entrance Is A Small Residential Street On The Right Of Cornelia St., And You Could Miss It and the turn-in.  Drive Past The Houses to your left, the Entrance Is A Sharp Right.  Again I Emphasize, You Could indeed Miss It. This Pond Offers Anglers "The Best Of Both Worlds." There Is The Pond, And Then A Short Walk From It To shoreline of The Raritan Bay Where You Can Saltwater Surf Fish.  Approximately to the right of the Parks Beach Swimming Area. So Bring Both Types Of Gear, Cause If One Is Not Successful, The Other May Be. I Must Add, That In Early August, 2004, The "Swimming Area" Of The Beach At Wolfes Pond Was Voted "One Of The Cleanest In NYC."  Can't say the same for the surf fishing area. TAKE THE "S56", "S57", "S59" BUS TO GET THERE. Ask the bus driver.

ACME POND: Is Part Of  Wolfes Pond. It Is Across on The Westside   Of Hyland Blvd. , just Across From Wolfes Pond Park. Somewhat Hidden From The Public Eye it appears to be just a wooded area.  Is Seldom Fished Because Of Its Obscurity.
SPECIES OF FISH: "BIG BASS!", We Were Advised.  Did not personally fish it yet. TAKE THE SAME NOTED BUS LINES  TO WOLFES POND TO GET HERE!.

EIBS POND LAKE:  Located at Musel Avenue & Palma Drive, Behind The School In The Clifton/Park Hill Section Of S.I.. It Is Said That This 3-Acre "Kettle Pond" With Its Clay-Bottom Contains LM Bass and Bluegill. It Is Considered A Wet-Lands Preserve. There Are Actually Two Ponds Connected By A Very Small Creek. One Has Good Access, But The Other Is Surrounded By Dense Cattails And Such.  Fishing there is by your choice. We have not yet ourselves.

GREAT KILLS PARK:  "Strictly SALTWATER FISHING Here!."   It Is Not A NYC DPR Park. It Is Under The Jurisdiction Of The National Park Service, Gateway National Recreation Area. It Is Federal Government Property.  The First Spot Is By The Marina, The Second Is The  Shoreline At  "Crooks Point."   TAKE ANY BUS LINE THAT RUNS ALONG HYLAND BLVD. TO GET HERE.  GET OFF BUS, FOLLOW WALKWAY INTO THE PARK.  IF LOST, JUST ASK ANYONE, or A Park Ranger/Police Officer WHERE THE FISHING IS. A LONG BUS RIDE TO THE PARK FROM THE ST. GEORGE FERRY TERMINAL.  A Big $$$ Car Service Ride From The Ferry, I May Add.

Reference: NYC DPR Borough HQ Is Located At Clove Lakes Park.  Just adjacent to the FDNY S.I. Boro Communications Office (Look for the Large Radio Tower).

Additional Notes: Many Anglers Have Inquired Regarding Fishing In "BRADYS POND PARK" (Narrows Road South At Hillcrest. on the service road Near The Bklyn.-bound VZ Bridge toll plaza approach). Yes, There Are Fish In The Pond, No Big Game Fish Though. The Pond Is Surrounded By Private Residential Property, Except On Its Northern Side (Which was a few yrs. ago  Full Of very visible Garbage And Even Pond Scum, and a long steep drop from the street down I may add). Heed This Warning, "Stay Off The Private Property Or You Can Be Arrested For Trespass". No Joke!. Secondly, Wadeing, Private Vessels Other Than That Of The Home Owners Are Not Permitted In/On Bradys Pond. Seriously, There Are Not Many Open Spaces To Fish In This Pond, So Avoid It All Together And Leave It For The Home Owners To Fish It. And On Past Visits To Bradys Pond, A Buddy And I Had Not Hooked (And Released) Any Fish There, I May Add.  His young nephew how ever caught some sunnnys. All we seen here were "small fishies."  You can Find A .jpeg Image Of This Pond from The 'Forgotten NY' ("Alley's Of S.I.") Page, Or By Typing In 'Bradys Pond' At "Images On Yahoo.Com."

MOUNT LORETTO: According To NYS DEC, Fishing Opportunities Are Possible Along The Mile-Long Shoreline, In The Body Of Water At The Mount Loretto Facility. Exact  Species Of Fish Unknown...We Don't Know Anyone Who Has Fished There. This Is NOT A NYC Parks Facility.  Find It On the North end of Hyland Boulevard...Just Minutes Away From The S.I. Expwy. and The VZ Bridge.  Just Head South On Hyland Blvd..  Use MAPQUEST To Get There.

ALLISON POND: At Allison Park. Location of Brentwood Ave. and Cornyingham in West Brighton. My brother said it is about 3 ft. deep at most. Unknown if any fish are in it, but if they are they are smallies. May be just a runoff pond from a smaller stream. Your choice to check it out or not. Not on any NYS DEC Nyc Fishing Locations map.

DO NOT FISH The 3 lakes at the Old "P&G" Plant in Nothwest Staten Island.  We are told it is now an apparent hangout for youth, possibly up to suspicious activities. NO FISH There!!!. AVOID IT!.

"STATEN ISLAND ANGLERS PREFER WOLFES POND PARK!!!"

News: "Ocean Breeze Recreational Pier A Hit With Staten Island Saltwater Anglers!." In 2004, NYC Parks & Recreation Completed, And Officially Opened A New Saltwater Fishing Pier, Located Along The Atlantic Ocean Boardwalk At "Midland Beach." The Beach, And Pier, Are Located Along Father Capodano Boulevard, Just Minutes Away From The Verrazanno-Narrows Bridge. (From Bklyn.) Exit Off The Bridge At "Bay Street." Turn Right, Then You Will Be Travelling Under The S.I. Expressway Bridge Approach/Exit Ramp. You Then Go Straight, Following The Winding Roadway Which Wll Then Put You On Capadano Blvd.. The Pier Is Said To Be Located At The End Of The Beach (Near Midland Ave., The Dead End Of The Road).

There Is Also a 2nd. Saltwater Pier, Located At LEMON CREEK PARK. It Is Located At The Dead End Of Sharrott Avenue In The Pleasant Plains Community.

Another Popular Saltwater Spot Is A Seawall Area Called "Austen House Park", Located Opposite The Historic Alice Austen House, Just Off Bay Street At The Foot Of Hyland Boulevard (Edgewater Street), (faces Bay Ridge, Brooklyn). This Is North Of The VZ Bridge, And Just North Of Fort Wadsworth. It Faces Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

NO FISHING PERMITTED ON FORT WADSWORTH PROPERTY!

WE SUPPORT A NASCAR TRACK BEING BUILT & OPERATED ON STATEN ISLAND. MAKE SENSE...MAKES MONEY FOR THE COMMUNITY, The CITY & BOROUGH.
